What is your favorite fantasy book?

Mine would be Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman because of the comedy and the fact that it's by two of favourite authors.

The entire First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie because of the amazing characters.

The Gentlemen Bastard Sequence by Scott Lynch because of the characters and steel-sharp wit.

What is yours?

Mine is probably Elric series, I haven't read all the books, only the first two. It's written by author Michael Moorcock. The first book is mainly about the protagonist's rivalry with his cousin, but from the second book onwards it seems the series focused more on Elric's self-realization and his adventures.

I grew up reading the Harry Potter series so I would say that this is still my number 1 fantasy novel. The reason why I liked it so much Harry is because I could relate to his character. He was an orphan after his parents died so were I. Although I was lucky I was not treated terribly by my foster parents. Harry got more hard time growing up. Before Hagrid showed up, he thought he was going to have to live this way forever. Just like what I thought when I first read the first installment of this series. I thought my life would be repetitive and boring. He hated his life at the beginning of the story, but things worked out. Just like me. Even the next seven years he spent fighting for his life and lost many friends, it all still worked out. I guess I and Harry had the same determination. If only I could achieve what he has done. Solving crisis with magic. Here I am thinking of magic again. Anyways things worked out fine in the end. I guess if you keep fighting all the elements in the universe would grant you with what you desire.

I have two book series that I absolutely adore. One is the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the other is A Song of Ice and Fire. They are incredibly good, with complex characters, compelling story, excellent dialogue, and a whole lot of intrigue.

The top series on my list is The Mortal Instruments. I just love it and the characters. I'm especially in love with the villain. I don't know why.
